THE CLOCK

I want you to picture a clock in front of you. Not a digital clock,, but the old fashioned one that has large numbers and two large hands on it. With that image in your mind, let me say that I believe in clocks, but I don't believe in a clock-maker. Oh yes, I have heard people talk about the clock-maker, and many are serious about their belief in such a fictional character. I even read a book once that told about the clock-maker.

But I am way too sophisticated and educated to believe in such an imaginary being. After all, I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny many years ago. Yes, I believe in clocks, but I absolutely refuse to believe in a clock-maker. Now I know what you zealous clock lovers are going to ask me. "Where do clocks come from if there in not a clock-maker?" You keep using that same old argument that if you have a clock then you must have a clock-maker. It never ceases to amaze me just how gullible you fanatics can be.

Any reasonable thinking person knows that millions of years ago a bunch of springs and gears suddenly appeared from nowhere, and they fell into this really large paper bag that also contained a bunch of numbers and other items that are essential to the creation of a clock [where all these materials came from is still unknown to most scientists and clock educators].

After all these items fell into this giant paper bad [we aren't exactly sure where it came from either], air that was flowing wildly through the atmosphere entered into the bag and made it begin to expand. The bag grew larger and larger until suddenly there was a "BIG BANG!" And you know what happened? A perfectly developed clock fell out of that busted bag! Since that great event millions of years ago the clock, with a little help from nature, has mysteriously evolved into the modern digital clock. Yes, the wonders of evolution.

Now doesn't that sound more logical and more scientific than believing in a silly fairy tale about a clock-maker? Any thinking person knows that it takes blind faith to believe in such a wild story. All of us evolved people know that there is no such thing as a clock-maker. After all, where is the proof of such a being?

Let us now come back to reality and admit that such a story as the one I have just given you is ridiculous. But let us also be perfectly honest and admit that it is no more ridiculous than Darwinism, which is being taught to our precious children in public schools today! Just as it would be silly to believe in the existence of a clock without also believing that there is a clock-maker, it is even more silly to believe in the grand creation of this vast universe, and mankind, without believing in the existence of the Grand Creator. Every time I look at a clock I am reminded that there has to be a clock-maker, and whenever I look out at nature, or at a human being, I know there is an all-wise, and an all-powerful Creator – Almighty God!

"The fool hath said in his heart; There is no God" (Psalm 14:1).
