CAPITAL PUNISHMENT? By PASTOR CHARLES PERKINS GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH HWY. 176 EAST P.O. BOX 208, GALENA, MISSOURI. 65656 onebookpreacher@yahoo.com Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is the execution of a person by the state as punishment for a crime. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offenses. The term capital originates from Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head" (Latin caput). Hence, a capital crime originally was to be punished by the loss of the head. Historically, the execution of criminals and political opponents was used by nearly all societies —both to punish crime and to suppress political dissent. In most places that practice capital punishment today, the death penalty is reserved as punishment for premeditated murder, espi- onage, treason, or as part of military justice. In some countries sexual crimes, such as rape, adultery, incest and sodomy, carry the death penalty, as do religious crimes such as apostasy (the formal renunciation of the State religion). In many retentionist countries (countries that use the death penalty), drug trafficking is also a capital offense. In China, human trafficking and serious cases of corruption are also punished by the death penalty. In militaries around the world courts-martial have imposed death sentences for offenses such as cowardice, desertion, insubordination, and mutiny. Wikipedia® The liberals and the politically correct crowd have about ruined America by their fight against the death penalty. The ACLU and their ilk have fought against it for many years. Ironically, they will fight to keep women killing babies and let the murderers and rapists live on your tax money. If someone is given a death sentence, it takes many years to carry out the punishment. In the old days it took less than a week to hang a horse thief. Most prisons in the USA are no longer institutions of punishment but rehabilitation stations. Some, in fact, are so good, with three meals a day, televison, libraries, trade school, etc., some parolees want to go back after their release. The death penalty is a Bible truth BEFORE THE LAW: "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man." (Genesis 9:6) The death penalty is a Bible truth DURING THE LAW: "He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. (Exo 21:12) "And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death. And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death. And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. (Exo 21:15-17) "And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death." (Lev 20:10) The death penalty is a Bible truth AFTER THE LAW "For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar." (Acts 25:11) "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." (Romans 1:32) "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." (Romans 13:1-4) The death penalty is a Bible truth IN THE Millennial King- dom: "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." (Matthew 5:29,30) Ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer of New York. reportedly set free 215 convicted killers in his first year in office. Dozens of cold-blooded killers who repeatedly begged to be released have gotten their wish in record numbers. "Vigilante mob justice ruled the Pioneer days. We do not advocate such action now. As court systems were put into place, public opinion and brute strength were more than jailers could handle. Though the use for Vigilante justice has passed, it was probably necessary to survive in the wild lands of Texas. A horse was equivalent to what a car is to us today, but much more important in the sparsely populated Texas of the 1800's. A horse was essential to survive in the rough land. The horse's value and necessity made it a serious crime to steal it. An old belief back then was that "a man coveted his possessions in the west in this order: first his horse, second his rifle, third his dog, and fourth his wife. Steal his wife but beware of the wrath rendered if one was to steal his horse" (copied) Wicked men whose main goal in life is to overthrow the word of God, are responsible for the grave injustices found in America regarding the death penalty. Bill O’Reilly of Fox News is against the death penalty but says we should ship the killers off to the far north and make them work on the rock pile the rest of their lives at hard labor. That sounds nice but it is not what God says in His book. Besides, the liberals would never allow such a thing because they would say that is "cruel and unusual punishment." After all these poor rapists and murderers probably could not help themselves. It was probably their parents’ or societies’ fault they gravitated into such a pitiful position in life. "College student Jose Parmes was 27 in 1981 when he hurled his 10-month-old daughter out a sixth-floor window after fatally stabbing girlfriend Iris Torres, 28, and cutting off her left ear. Parmes jumped out the same window. His daughter landed on a second-floor fire escape and survived. Parmes, now 54, got 16 years to life in 1982. He was released in May after being denied parole four times." (copied) All of this nonsense will be gone when The King of Kings and Lord of Lords comes back to rein over the whole earth and all of the crooked politicians are breathing fire! "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." U |
