On Don Imus

And the hypocrite thugs, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton

I had never heard of Don Imus until 1996 when he, with a surgeon’s skill, filleted the Clintons at a Washington Correspondence Dinner with the Clintons and their staff in attendance. His delivery was flawless; and brutal. He cut them with a thousand cuts on the most sensitive issues from (as best as I remember it) Whitewater to cattle futures to Clinton’s infidelities, in front of thousands of people, and left the audience at the same time aghast and in hysterics.

I was in hysterics. Imus is your boiler-plate liberal: crude and foul-mouthed, who can also be funny and brilliant. But being the metrosexual that he is, (what is with the jacket and hair?) he never wanders too far off the liberal reservation. I once heard him insult Newt Gingrich’s sister so brutally that Gingrich would have been justified in punching him in the mouth; a more civilized generation would have required it.

In fact, William Buckley said that when Imus was creaming the Clintons at the correspondence dinner, the Clinton crew almost got up and walked out. But it would have taken dignity and character to do that, and those two concepts are foreign concepts to that mangey bunch.

After all these years of shooting off the mouth in crude, crass, and blasphemous ways, the irony is what it was that Imus said that finally got the morally relativistic white-shirts at NBC and CBS to fire the cadaverous big mouth: a racial slur.

(Indulge me, if you would, while I take a moment to make the obligatory sycophantic "I hate racism-so-please-don’t-criticize-me!" disclaimer: "Imus’s cruel comment about the female basketball players was wrong, reprehensible, and despicable, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.")

There. Now that that’s over let’s get to the nitty-gritty of the whole thing.

First, Imus’s harshest critics, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton, are racist, trouble-making thugs who call themselves reverends without ever, ever, ever being heard proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’ve never heard them do it or read anywhere that they have.

It is because they are themselves ungodly, unregenerate pharisees who should be shamed into hiding for the rest of their sorry lives for falsely impersonating a preacher of the gospel, and for their Mafioso-style shake-downs and scare tactics, and for their pretending to actually have real jobs while, in actuality, leaching off of scaredy-cat CEOs of companies that pay them to leave them alone.

Second, racism has been allowed to become perceived as the worst sin a person can commit in America. It has become perceived as such because we are too cowardly to speak out against race hustlers like Jackson and Sharpton who extort companies for money (Jackson), break campaign finance laws (Sharpton), get women pregnant who aren’t their wives (Jackson), cause riots that result in injury, loss of property and death (Sharpton), and masquerade as men of God while they are, in reality, children of the devil (both). What they have done is certainly worse than the racism they condemn in others. The beam in their eye is great.

If Jackson and Sharpton were real men of God, they would not just speak out ad nauseum (is anyone else as sick as I am of hearing about racism?) about the sin of racism in specific – ok we get it! – but they would speak out against the sin of hating one’s brother in general: "Thou shalt not

hate thine brother in thine heart." (Leviticus 19:17, et.al.). That also means blacks hating whites and Jews.

The definition for racism in our culture – whether it’s admitted or not – is a white person hating or saying even the slightest thing off-color (no pun…) about a black person. A black person can slander a Jew (i.e., Jackson’s hymie-town slur), a white person, or anyone else as most all black comedians and entertainers do. God has no such double-standard.

If a man hates in his heart, he has committed murder in his heart, whether it’s against a black man, a Jewish man, an Indian, or whatever. The myopic condemnation of racism defined as the hate that only a white man or Jewish man has in his heart is wrong and needs to be rebuked with boldness.

And hating a man in one’s heart is not the evil equivalent of murdering a helpless baby in the womb; or supporting Israel’s enemies; or condoning sodomy; or robbing a man of his means of defending his family and his home from an intruder; or robbing a country of its means of defending itself; or committing treason.

And these are just a few of the abominations that Jackson’s and Sharpton’s political party - the Democrats – and Jackson and Sharpton themselves have supported over their years in politics.

Third, the hypocrisy and cowardliness of the higher-ups at NBC and CBS is sickening and amazing. The filth and garbage they put on TV every night for the whole country to watch should make them lose sleep at night. They are wretches of the worst kind.

To show all of the filth on TV that they do, and then feign outrage at a comment like "nappy-headed hos" is a laughable double-standard. It’s very hard to take humanistic liberals like these seriously. They are weaklings who conform to the left-wing zeitgeist (whichever way it turns) like putty.

A friend of mine at church wondered allowed how it is that we can become so intensely fascinated with the most benign and tawdry events like the Don Imus comments in our culture; another friend was more positive. He said, well, at least it took Anna Nicole off the headlines for a while.

Yeah, at least it did. But I was hoping something of genuine importance would do that.

Unfortunately, however, events of real importance in our shallow culture rarely make the news at all. V
