An evangelist has written that he has accompanied 21 condemned men to the electric chair. One prisoner, before sitting in their chair, kissed it, saying it was the cause of his becoming a saved Christian.

Facing death, with only a limited time to live, he had opened his heart to the Gospel and by faith had received the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. He was born again.

Another condemned man looked at his watch and became impatient over a brief delay of his execution. He said to the guards: “Hurry; I was due in Heaven with my Lord and Saviour thirty minutes ago.”

How can one explain this eagerness to die? The answer is: Only the reality of Christ and His saving grace, offered to ALL repentant sinners, can do that for any one under such a circumstance – death in an electric chair!

Yes, when one is saved (and uncounted millions have been) it is by the grace of God, not by human merit or religious affiliations and activities. Take time now to read Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Galatians 2:16; 3:10, 13; Romans 4:5; John 3:1-36, etc.

Grace is God bestowing (in response of faith in Christ) what one does not deserve. Come to God as a sinner and you will become one of His children whom He calls saints.
