IS IT TOO LATE FOR AMERICA?

I know one thing, it is very late! It seems to me we are pretty close to the days in Israel when God said to Jeremiah, “Pray not for this people.” It was too late! The scare of 9/11 has worn off and it is business as usual, which is typified by an underlying humanism and a wicked hedonism.

Quite a few quotes here are found in The Death of the West, by Pat Buchanan. Other sources include previous issues of the Cornerstone Challenge. We are living in very ominous times and the truth is the West, Europe and America, are about as far as one can get from God and ripe for judgment.

Four major trends prevail today! My purpose is twofold: first, hopefully some Christians will get serious as to why we are here; second, hopefully parents will wake up and prepare their children for the difficult days ahead.

 

THE PHILOSOPHY OF

MULTI-CULTURISM!

 

This is seen as a great thing. Let us have many cultures; many countries within one land. It may sound good, but it only weakens and leads to divisions. President Theodore Roosevelt said, “One absolutely certain way to bring this nation to ruin...would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.”

Before WW II immigrants, who came to this country, became Americans and were proud of it. Not so today! Today we give them bilingual (even multi-lingual) education and they cling to their old culture. Europe and America are swamped with third world immigrants; besides millions of legal immigrants in the U.S. we have 11 million illegal ones, if not more.

In 2000, President Fox of Mexico (where 50% are in poverty) proposed that the U.S., Mexico and Canada become one nation. President Clinton thought it was a great idea. So did the Wall Street Journal! By 2005, in just three years, 43% of all Californians under 18 will be Mexican.

According to many historians, every great country was held together by some religion. The West was at one time “Christian” - not born again, but held to a basic Christian philosophy. Christianity of any kind, to all intents and purposes, has been dead in Europe for a long time. The R. C. Archbishop of Canterbury, Cardinal Murphy O’Connor said, “As a guide to people’s moral lives in Britain, Christianity has vanished.” Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey said, “A tacit atheism prevails.”

The U.S. Supreme Court in the past 30 years has outlawed Christianity in public life. Ultra-liberal Justice Wm. Brennan said, “(Judges) are not mere umpires, but in their own sphere, lawmakers!” They have proved that! Today, the West is basically humanistic! Christianity has very little influence upon the masses.

A Princeton survey in 1996 revealed that 62% of Protestants and 74% of Catholics believed that all religions are equally good. Can you imagine, Hinduism with its millions of gods is just as valid as Christianity! Roman Catholic Bishop Fulton Sheen in 1931 said, “We are producing a group of sophomoric latitudinarians who...not only say one Christian sect is as good as another but that one world religion is as good as another.”

 

GLOBALISM:

ONE WORLD!

 

This is the next logical step - many cultures in one world! We have written on this subject several times. The Bible tells us there will be one world government and one world religion under antichrist. Fundamentalists believe this, but they cannot see it forming right under their noses. They think it is a great way off and most are simply living for today.

The Humanist Manifesto says, “We look forward to a world order based on transnational federal government.” Strobe Talbot of the Clinton administration said, “Within the next hundred years nationhood as we know it will be obsolete; all states (countries) will recognize one global authority.” It will probably be long before 100 years.

John Lennon expressed it like this: “Imagine there’s no heaven - It’s easy if you try.  No hell below us - Above us only sky;  Imagine all the people living for today.  Imagine there’s no countries;  It isn’t hard to do.  Nothing to kill or die for;  And no religion too.  Imagine all the people - Living life in peace.”

In order to do this, one must destroy patriotism. Arthur Schlesinger said, “The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then...manufacture a new one.” That’s been going on with a vengeance for the past 40 years! School textbooks have been so altered as to erase our past and downgrade America’s heroes, substituting liberal radicals.

Fifty years ago, 89% of men and 94% of women said this was the greatest country in the world. Today, it’s 58% and 51%.In 1992, UCLA was given $2 million by the U.S. Education Department to develop new history standards. Here’s what they came up with: “No references to Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell or the Wright Brothers... Harriet Tubman - six times while Robert E. Lee only once. The founding dates of the (very liberal) Sierra Club and the (very feminist) National Organization for Women got special notice... the Constitutional Convention was never mentioned. The Presidency of George Washington was not mentioned nor his farewell address. The only congressional figure (out of tens of thousands) was Tip O’Neil.”

A recent survey of 556 seniors from top college and universities asked 34 questions from a high school history course. Four out of five - 80% flunked! Only 22% linked “government of the people, by the people...” to the Gettysburg address. A U.S. News and World Report survey found that NOT ONE of 55 elite colleges and universities require a U.S. history course to graduate. The average parent (including many Christians) do not have a clue as to what has happened.

 

HEDONISM AND MORAL BREAKDOWN

 

The European and U.S. birthrate is at a dying rate. They are not producing enough children to replace themselves. In 1960, 25% of the world’s population was of European descent; by 2000 it was less than 17% and by 2050 it is predicted to be 10%. Today, 47 European countries have more deaths than births. Only one has more - Albania which is Muslim.

Popline, a liberal population news service predicts that by 2050 Russia will have only one hundred million people. The third world adds one million new persons every 15 months. What does this have to do with morality? The West is not producing many children. Why not? Mainly because of birth control and abortion. Few want babies, it would hinder their life style.

That’s one reason we have 1.5 million abortions here every year - sex but no babies. With rare exceptions, abortion was unthinkable 50-75 years ago. Pioneer feminist Elizabeth Stanton said in 1848 abortion “was a disgusting and degrading crime.” Before WW II, Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood) said, “The most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to kill it.” Today, only 17%-19% of Americans favor outlawing  all abortions. Unmarried couples have increased 1000% since 1970; 64% of women with children are in the work force (another Marxist ideology).

Homosexuality and pornography have made astounding gains. Thomas Jefferson said homosexuality was worse than bestiality and punishable by death. Then, we have sex education in the schools, TV and internet pollution, etc. Two generations have grown up in this culture and  they think it is normal.

 

THE BATTLE FOR

AMERICA’S YOUTH

 

The last two or three generations of young people have been brought up on the humanistic philosophy of relativism, there are no absolutes. Most people know about the disastrous situation in the public schools. The “dumbing down” of our schools didn’t happen by accident but by design. In 1983, The Humanist said, “The battle for mankind’s future must be fought in the classroom.”

The truth is they have won! Greening of America, states: “An examination is a form of violence. Compulsory gym...is a form of violence... Compulsory attendance in the classroom is a form of violence...” History has been rewritten; Martin Luther King is a hero while true patriots are debunked. A recent study shows 1/2 of the Ivy League seniors could not name the author of the Gettysburg address; 98% could identify rapper “Snoopy Dogg.” The most used history book in America mentions Martin Luther King 67 times - Thomas Jefferson once.

The entertainment industry is a cesspool of iniquity. The Chicago Tribune said, “MTV is the single most powerful force in popular music, and also the most ruinous.” Wm. Lind, Dir. for Cultural Conservatism said: “The entertainment industry has wholly absorbed the ideology of Marxism and preaches it endlessly... children are wiser than their parents, homosexuals lead normal lives...”

Though Marxism failed in Russia (it is not dead) social Marxism is flourishing on the campuses of America. Marx and his successors taught that producing a hedonistic society would bring down any people.

Why am I bothering to write this? Because most Christians are living with one foot in the world and one in the Church. They are asleep and their children are being caught up in the worldliness and carnality that is all around them. Few Christians have a clue that things have changed drastically!

They live pretty much like the rest of the people, occupied with things, pleasure and selfish ambition. I am writing this to wake you up! The world is going down fast and many professed believers with it. Some of you will lose your children unless you get serious with God. God tried to wake them up in Jeremiah’s day but they didn’t want to hear it.

God says, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to wake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light.” Rom.13:11,12. We may not be able to save America, but maybe we can save our young people! It is going to take some serious repenting!
