RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE KING JAMES BIBLE

Announced To The Church Of God Known As

GOSPEL LIGHT BAPTIST CHURCH

235 Lockett Station Road
P.O. Box 3071
Albany, Georgia

ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2000

WHEREAS, A Baptist ministry and his congregation in California have taken it upon themselves to declare by a formal resolution that it is a heresy to believe that the King James Bible is inspired, inerrant, and preserved; and

WHEREAS said ministry has resolved to break fellowship with Bible believers and their churches (such as ours); refusing to receive members from their churches; and refusing to accept their baptisms as "valid"; and

WHEREAS, said ministry has seen fit to circulate the resolution widely, including mailing a copy to our church;

WHEREAS, contrary to said minister and church's resolution, the King James Bible IS the inspired, inerrant, and preserved word of God, and it IS infallible and inerrant in the same sense that the original manuscripts of the scriptures were infallible and inerrant;

WHEREAS, the 66 books of the King James Bible are not ONLY a TRANSLATION of the scriptures, but are indeed THE SCRIPTURES; and

WHEREAS, the King James Bible has been the only binding document governing our church since its beginning in 1986; I hereby announce the following resolution to our church family:

RESOLUTION

RESOLVED, as a Bible-believing Christian, as a pastor of a Bible-believing, fundamental, independent Baptist churche since 1975, and as the pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia, I will continue to not only USE the King James Bible in public and in private, for the exaltation of the Savior, the evangelization of the sinner, and the edification of the saint, but also to BELIEVE it; and

RESOLVED, my faith in and use of the King James Bible will not be diminished by the ranting, ravings, and resolutions of those poor deluded fools who reject its authority.

Calmly announced to the congregation and signed by myself, Michael D. O'Neal, pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church;

Completely agreed upon and signed by the assistant pastors, Darran Richmond and Morris Monkus; and

Cheerfully accepted by the members of Gospel Light Baptist Church who were present, Sunday morning, September 24, 2000, and who stood to their feet in support of their pastor and this resolution.
