There is a town of 35,000 which needs a NEW TESTAMENT BAPTIST CHURCH. This town has two Southern Baptist Churches and one Independent Baptist Church. The Independent Baptist Church has been there for five years and the last time I heard they were running less than 50.
Compared to the rest of the country, property is still at a reasonable price. This town has grown from 17,000 people in 1994 to its present size of 35,000. Building restrictions are still lax. A CHURCH PLANTER with a good church backing him could acquire a nice piece of property (several acres) with a Mobile Home already in place. Many times for as little as $500 down.
If the church was started in the middle of the valley, near what is called the business district, you could reach out in all directions with a bus ministry. A Christian School is also needed.
THIS TOWN IS GROWING AT THE RATE OF SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE EACH AND EVERY MONTH. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THE POPULATION WILL CONTINUE TO EXPAND AT A STEADY PACE UNTIL THERE ARE WELL OVER 100,000 PEOPLE LIVING THERE. AT PRESENT THERE ARE ONLY TWO RED LIGHTS IN THE ENTIRE TOWN.
What a great opportunity for a church planter who might want to come and stay. A man who knows how to start a church. A PREACHER WHO IS A GIVER AND NOT A TAKER. A MAN OF GOD WHO WANTS TO SERVE PEOPLE AND THE LORD INSTEAD OF BEING SERVED.
They will soon begin a community of over 7,000 houses in this town with more to come. The valley in which this town is located is 26 miles long and 8 to 12 miles wide. That is 364 square miles. On one side is a large mountain range (Spring Mountain Range) with snow on the top many months out of the year.
On the other side is a smaller mountain range (Nopah Mountains). This town is located in what is called the high desert. In the summer the daytime temperatures can reach the 100's but low humidity and gentle breezes make the temperatures seem lower. Because of the elevation (2,695), the nights are cool and beautiful with minimums usually between 70 and 75. Spring and Fall are ideal.
Winter nights get cold but with temperatures only dropping to freezing for short periods. The winter days are usually warm ranging from the 50's to the 60's; and many days well into the 70's.
There are never any tornado warnings!!!! There is never any snow to shovel!!!! No hurricanes to contend with!!!! It is clear and sunny an average of 216 days per year. Rainy and cloudy 65 days. Partly cloudy 84 days. The relative humidity is 29% and many days much less. Annual rainfall is usually 4 to 5 inches and wind speed 9 MPH.
Even though this beautiful place does not receive much rain fall there is plenty of water underground. The town is sitting on the 3rd largest aquifer in the United States.
Where Is This Town?
It is located 63 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada in the southwest corner of Nye County and only 8 miles from the California border. It is called PAHRUMP, NEVADA. You may wonder how this town got its name. The Southern Paiutes, who occupied the Pahrump Valley many years ago, named the Valley "Pah" meaning water, and "rimpi" meaning stone or rock. Pah Rimpi became Pahrump, the Paiute description of a spring or flowing waters emerging from rock.
If you are a Bible Believing (KJV) Local Church (Visible) Independent Baptist preacher wanting to start a church and feel led in this direction give me a call for more details. There is the possibility that we can help you raise some support if you need it through the pages of THE FLAMING TORCH and from some personal preacher friends.
You will have to meet the qualifications and have references for us to back you. There is also the possibility, in a few years, that Mary and I will be moving to Pahrump. We would love to work with a good Visible Local Church Pastor. We are not certain about moving there yet. We are both still working and may have to continue working unless we receive a financial miracle.
If you want to make a trip to Las Vegas and have me take you over to Pahrump I will be glad to help. Over a week-end would be best since I work during the week (grave yard). You may ask why I don't start the church myself. Several reasons. The first and foremost is my lack of experience at starting a church. Second, is my age. I do not have the get up and go I once had and do not feel like I would be able to do the job. I am not pastor material!!
PLEASE CALL ME ANY SATURDAY. SATURDAY ONLY. CALL BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. TO 9:00 P.M., PACIFIC TIME. We only have a cell phone in the RV park where we live so please do not call except on Saturday. I have plenty of free cell phone time on Saturday. Thank you so very much. PHONE: (702) 496-7655.
