Pastor Thomas Smith

The Torch Has a New Home

It is an honor for us to be entrusted with the responsibility of continuing the publication of The Flaming Torch.  Please allow me to introduce ourselves.

It has been my privilege to serve the Lord and the people of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, Missouri, as their pastor for the past thirty-three years. Bro. Don Edwards was very gracious in publishing a number of our devotional articles in The Torch, and our people were blessed by his preaching when he was our guest.

It is our desire to continue in the conservative, Christ-honoring, King James Bible, local church, missionary, independent Baptist tradition of the paper. We want to honor the Lord, edify His people, and promote His Word and His work. Our plan is to continue the quarterly publication schedule, beginning with this issue.

We appreciate your prayers and support as we move forward.

As I've listened to some of the reaction to the announcement of the United States Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage, in almost every case, you hear the argument that it doesn't hurt anyone else.  The majority (5 for and 4 against) argued for [...]
